Monday, December 14th

Message from the Principal

Happy Monday Kaseberg Families!  This is one of my favorite times of the year with students as we are approaching the holidays.  They are all so happy with smiling faces (under masks) throughout our campus and filled with anticipation for the fun filled events this week.  Thank you again for your dedication to keeping our students and staff safe.  You have done a phenomenal job at keeping your children home when they are not feeling well, wearing masks, and giving grace when needed.  I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead and I look forward to seeing our students in their spirit wear all week!

Important Information

Placer County Food Bank

Placer County Food Bank will be bringing our bi-weekly food drop off on Tuesday, December 15th.  The food bags will be non-perishable again and we are giving them out first come, first serve.  Again they will be available for pick up in front of the school between 12:30-2:00.  The last time we gave them out they were gone within 20 minutes so please come early if you would like a bag.

Kaseberg 5 Days of Holiday Fun

Next week is the start of our 5 Days of Holiday Fun here is Kaseberg.  Each day is a dress-up theme day and we can not wait to see all of your Holiday Spirit!

Annual Household Eligibility Form-Last Call

Currently, we have 53 families who have filled out the Annual Household Eligibility form online.  That is amazing and thank you for doing this.  We have over 160 families who qualify, which means we still have room for more registrations.  Again, the number of families who register helps to fund very important resources here at Kaseberg, which we risk losing if we do not get the funding needed.  If you have not filled out the form it can be found HERE.
It is due December 15th!

Friday, December 4th

Important Information

ANNUAL Household Eligibility Form-VERY IMPORTANT

The Annual Household Eligibility Form (or Free and Reduced Meal program) is more important than you might think. The Free Meal Program typically provides assistance to those who qualify, and even though meals are free for all students for this school year, we are asking you to please take a moment and fill out the Annual Household Eligibility Form online at https://www.rcsdk8.org/annual-household-eligibility-form. The application is due by December 15, 2020.

By taking time to fill out this form, it allows our District to potentially capture funds lost by the lack of forms filled out to date. If you have already completed a Meal Application for the 2020-2021 school year, please also complete this form.

Our students and school are at risk of losing 23% of the supplemental grant funding that supports those programs due to the lack of applications submitted to date. This would potentially displace our counselor, Reading Intervention teacher and Community Liason.

Holiday Theme Week at Kaseberg

During the week of December 14th-December 18th, we will be celebrating the Holidays here at Kaseberg Elementary. Each day of the week we will have a dress-up theme day. We are hoping to see all of our students and staff dressed up in the Holiday spirit!🎄🎄

Music Corner

SAVE THE DATE! RCSD Caroling Night will be December 17th at 7PM. Get cozy with your family and tune in to our holiday sing-along on the RCSD Music Youtube channel. We'll teach you the songs ahead of time in the Community Song portion of your December lessons.

Message from Principal Duncan:

Happy Monday Kaseberg Families!  This is our final week of school before we head into Thanksgiving Break and enjoy some much needed relaxation and family time.  These past two weeks have been filled with so many unknowns and firsts for our students and staff.  What I am most proud of is our community's resilience during times of uncertainty.  Our students have done so well with mask-wearing, hand washing, and social distancing to ensure we keep everyone safe and keep our school open.  Keep up the great work Hawks and enjoy your week before break!

Important Information:

Rainy Day Pick Up/Dismissal

We are now heading into winter and we will have rainy days ahead.  Please send your child to school with an umbrella or hoodie to ensure they stay dry.  Also, when it is raining during dismissal we will have a different process to ensure students remain dry to the best of our ability.
  • Walkers & Adventure Club:  These students will be released from their classroom at 1:15 from our Back Gate, per usual.
  • Driver-Thru Pick Up:  These students will be housed in the MPR until our staff member walkies that their car is out front, then they will be released.
  • Parent Walk-Up Out Front:  These students will also be housed in the MPR.  Parents, please wear a mask and walk up to our side MPR door to pick up your child.
  • Kindergarten:  We will have the same release and Pick Up as a nonrainy day.

FREE Food Pantry Delivery Every Month

Every other Tuesday we will have pallets of non-perishable or perishable food delivered to our front gate entrance for our families to take as needed.  This food is free for all Kaseberg Families to take and we encourage families to grab a bag of food during these days.  It is a first-come, first-serve basis and no sign up is required.  We plan to have approximately 50 bags of food this first go around for delivery.  Our first distribution date is this TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17th from 12:45pm-2:00pm in front of the school.  We will have volunteers out in front of the school to help carry bags of food to cars as needed.

Lunch Applications

Even though all students are receiving free lunch at this time we are still asking families to fill out a Lunch Meals Application online.  The Free and Reduced Lunch application helps in providing Title 1 funding to our site and supports us in having a counselor, intervention teacher, and countless other resources here at Kaseberg.  If you have not filled out the Free and Reduced Lunch application yet this year, please do so by clicking this link below.  Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Thanksgiving Break Next Week:  November, 23rd-November, 27th

Message from the Principal

Happy Friday and welcome back to our first week of in-person instruction!  I am so proud of our students, staff, and families during this transition back to in-person instruction.  Students have been so positive, well-behaved, and following all safety protocols.  Thank you to our families for being so respectful of our social distancing protocols during drop off and pick up.  This has made our before school and after school procedures go very smoothly.  I can not express enough how much gratitude I have to this Kaseberg Community and our ability to work together to support our students!  Thank you for all that you do!

Important Information

Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders

Thank you for all that you have done to make this transition smooth for drop off and pick up.  We have had all students picked up and off-campus within 10 minutes of dismissal, which is amazing.  As a reminder, there are three entrance/exit gates on campus.  Please make sure your child has a meeting spot designated with you after they are released.  If your child is exiting out the back gate and meeting you somewhere, please make sure you are visible for us to see.
  • Kinder Gate:  Kinder pick up and drop off only.
  • Back Gate:  All students who are walking home, going to Adventure Club, or have a parent parking and walking up to the gate.
  • Front Gate:  Students who are getting picked up by cars in the drive-thru or cars parked in our front parking lot.

Chromebooks

If your child has not returned their Chromebook to school and given it to their teacher, please do so ASAP.  We will be taking an inventory of our Chromebooks for future use in the classrooms.  Please make sure you send the Chromebook back with the assigned charger as well.  Thank you!

New Attendance Procedure

If your child is sick or just going to be absent from school, the school district now has a Google FORM for you to fill out so they can make sure there are no COVID connections with any illness.  Please fill out this form and notify the front office if your child is going to be absent due to an illness.

Meal Duty Supervisor Needed

Are you interested in being on campus and working with our students for pay?  We currently have a vacant Meal Duty Supervisor position here at Kaseberg Elementary.  The job would entail delivering bagged lunches to our classrooms and watching students during our afternoon recess.  The position would be from 10:45am-12:15 pm Monday-Friday.  We are hoping to fill this position ASAP.  If this is something you are interested in please fill out the job application at our Ed Join website and we will contact you.  We would love to see this position filled by one of our own.  Thank you!  MDS Job Application

Safety Video for our Kaseberg Students

Friday, Sept 25th

Message from Principal Duncan

This is by far my most favorite time of the year!  We are in our groove for school, the weather is getting cooler and those fall candles are lit.  It has been a pleasure this week meeting parents during our first School Site Council Meeting and seeing our students dressed up in all of their spirit gear.

This week has reaffirmed my belief that it is so important to let those around you know how much you care, validate the work others are doing, and to lead our community with compassion.  I SEE all that our families are doing to support this community, and like a student told me this week "I BELIEVE IN YOU!"  Have a wonderful weekend!

 Message from Mrs.Duncan:

Three weeks down...and you have been phenomenal during this transition to Distance Learning.  I can't believe we are already entering into September and cross our fingers we will be face-to-face by November.  Please remember that our children see how we respond to the stresses in our own lives and it is important to show optimism and calmness during stressful times.  I nightly remind myself of this when I am interacting with my own 1st and 3rd grader who are truly doing the best they can with their learning.  They too need little reminders that we are all going to be OK and that we are proud of their efforts and the work they are putting in.  Please have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all Monday!

 Message from Principal Duncan:

Happy Friday Kaseberg Families!  We are now two weeks into Distance Learning and we are starting to see the bumps in the road getting smoother.  We wanted to THANK all of our families and caregivers for the amazing work and effort you have put into supporting your children.  We know this has not been easy and we know families are truly doing the best they can under these circumstances...so THANK YOU!  I wanted to share one of my favorite books with our students and let them know how proud we are of their efforts and engagement during these past two weeks.  💓

Parent Reminders...Important:

Just as a reminder, please help your child find a quiet place for their learning as best as possible.  It has been brought to our attention that during live sessions our teachers have been able to hear side conversations and side noises from the home.  Even when your child has headphones on background noise can be heard.  Thank you again for all of your support!

If you are having technical issues with clever or Otus please refer to our Parent Support page linked HERE.  In addition, if you are having issues with your Chromebook and it is Lost, Damaged, or has been stolen,  please fill out this form and the district office will be on contact for a replacement.

Instructional Materials Deployment Dates:

Our next materials deployment date will be fast approaching before we know, so we wanted to give you a heads up of some dates to remember.  After this deployment, we will only be deploying every 4 weeks until further notice.  Your child's teacher will notify you if there will be no materials to pick up this time around.
