Message from Principal Duncan~
Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope you and your family enjoyed a restful winter break filled with meaningful time, joyful moments, and time well spent with loved ones. As we begin 2026, we are excited to welcome everyone back and start the second half of the school year together.
Our staff is energized and eager to continue our pursuit of high expectations for all students, while building strong relationships and supporting ongoing academic growth. These pillars remain at the heart of everything we do at Kaseberg, and we are committed to ensuring every student feels supported, challenged, and valued each day.
Over the next eight weeks of the second trimester, we will be focusing on goal setting with our students as they prepare for their second round of i-Ready diagnostics. This is an important opportunity for students to reflect on their progress, set meaningful goals, and celebrate their growth. In addition to our academic focus, we also have some exciting and fun events ahead, including our Winter Family Dance and Read Across America Week.
I truly look forward to all that we will accomplish together during the second half of the school year. I am so excited to see your amazing children on Tuesday, January 6th, as we return from break and begin this next chapter together.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Here’s to a wonderful start to 2026 at Kaseberg!
Important Information~
PBIS Character Trait of the Month EMPATHY~
π Character Trait of the Month: Empathy π
This month at Kaseberg, we are focusing on the character trait of Empathy. Classrooms will be teaching lessons that explore what empathy looks like and sounds like—both at school and at home.
π£️ Community Circles
Each week, classes will hold community circles where students have the opportunity to share examples of how empathy has been shown to them and how they have shown empathy to others. These conversations help students build understanding, strengthen relationships, and create a caring school community.
Together, we are empowering our students to recognize feelings, show kindness, and support one another every day. π«
π‘ At Home
-
Model empathy: Talk through your own feelings and show understanding when others are upset or need support.
-
Encourage perspective-taking: Ask questions like, “How do you think they felt?” or “What could we do to help?”
-
Practice active listening: Give your child your full attention and validate their emotions, even when you don’t agree with their actions.
-
Use everyday moments: Books, movies, and real-life situations are great opportunities to discuss emotions and kind responses.
-
Praise empathetic actions: Acknowledge when your child shows kindness, compassion, or understanding toward others.
