PBIS-Positive Behavior Intervention Supports~

As we kick off the school year, I want to take a moment to explain an important aspect of our school’s approach to creating a positive learning environment: PBIS. Kaseberg Elementary was awarded a Platinum Implementation Award from the state of California last year!

What is PBIS?

PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It’s a proactive approach that we use at Kaseberg to promote positive behavior and create a safe and supportive school environment. PBIS focuses on teaching students expected behaviors, rewarding them for following these expectations, and providing support when they struggle.

How Does PBIS Work?

  1. Clear Expectations: We establish clear, consistent expectations for behavior in all areas of the school, including classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds. These expectations are taught to students at the beginning of the year and reinforced regularly.

  2. Positive Reinforcement: We recognize and reward students for displaying positive behavior. This can be through praise, tokens, or other incentives that encourage students to keep up the good work.

  3. Consistent Consequences: When students struggle to meet behavior expectations, we provide consistent and fair consequences. The goal is to help them learn from their mistakes and make better choices in the future.

  4. Support Systems: We offer additional support for students who need it. This can include small group interventions, one-on-one support, or other resources to help them succeed behaviorally and academically.

Why PBIS?

PBIS helps create a positive and inclusive school culture where all students feel safe, respected, and ready to learn. Research shows that schools using PBIS see a decrease in disruptive behaviors, an increase in academic performance, and a more positive school climate overall.

Kaseberg Student Attendance Matters~

During the 2024/2025 school year attendance will be a big focus for our campus.  It is essential that students are at school every day.  You did AMAZING last year ensuring your children were in school every day.  We had the best attendance rate in the district..woohoo!  This positively impacts a child's academics and the resources we are able to provide for our students.  Below are a few reminders going into the school year:

  • Try to take vacations during our designated school breaks as much as possible.
  • You are only required to stay home for an illness if you are vomiting, have diarrhea and/or a fever.
  • You CAN attend school with COVID as long as you no longer have a fever.
  • Please use Independent Study if you do have a preplanned vacation. LINK HERE

 Message from Principal Duncan~

Dear Kaseberg Elementary Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying a delightful summer break. As we approach the start of the 2024-2025 school year, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome back to our returning students and our new families. The anticipation for the new school year is palpable, and I am excited to embark on this journey with you and your incredible children.

Our theme for this year, “Chasing Greatness: Raising the Bar,” perfectly captures our commitment to excellence and our drive to continually elevate our standards for our school community. Building on the momentum of last year, we are more determined than ever to provide a learning environment where every student feels safe, loved, and challenged to reach their highest potential here at Kaseberg Elementary.

I am incredibly proud to share that our students achieved remarkable success last year. We outperformed 95% of schools across the state of California and were the only school in Placer County to demonstrate excellence in all academic areas of the California Dashboard. This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and the entire Kaseberg community.  We will continue to "Raise the Bar" of excellence during the 2024-2025 school year!

As we move forward, our focus remains the same: to create an enriching educational experience that fosters growth, encourages grit and perseverance, and celebrates achievement. We are committed to supporting each student's unique and individual needs, ensuring they have the tools and supports needed to thrive here at Kaseberg.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, let’s make the 2024-2025 school year our best yet. I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and shared successes.

Warm regards,

Melissa Duncan
