Grass Area Closed After Dismissal~

We love seeing our Kaseberg community spending time together after school! However, we kindly ask that families avoid gathering or playing in the grassy area in front of our classrooms after dismissal.

Recently, increased activity in that space has led to some unintended issues, including damage to flower beds, rocks being kicked up near parked cars, and noise that makes it challenging for staff to continue working in their classrooms.

To help maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone, we encourage families to head to the park just around the corner if you'd like to stay and connect after school. Since we do not have supervision available in that area, your support helps us ensure a calm and safe campus for all.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our staff and school community!

3rd-5th Grade CAASPP Information~

There are many ways to measure your child’s learning. Your child’s teacher uses report card grades, classroom work, teacher observations, and end-of-year statewide test results to get a complete picture of your child’s learning. Each year, students participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).

Your child will take the following tests, depending on their grade level or instructional program:

  • Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English Language Arts and Math, required tests in grades 3–8

  • California Science Test (CAST), a required test in grades 5 and 8

Pursuant to California Education Code Section 60615, parents/guardians may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from any or all of the CAASPP assessments. This exemption does not exist for the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) or Physical Fitness Test.

For more information on the assessments, please review this Statewide Testing Notification.

The 2024-2025 testing schedule for the Roseville City School District is listed below:

April 7th - April 11th, 2025: California Science Test (CAST) for grades 8

April 22nd - April 25th, 2025: California Science Test (CAST) for grades 5

April 28th - May 9th, 2025: Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments, ELA and Math

May 12th - May 16th, 2025: Makeup testing

Sunday, January 5th

 Message from Principal Duncan~

Welcome back! I hope this message finds you rested, rejuvenated, and ready for an exciting second half of the school year. As we step into the New Year, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and set our sights on the second half of the school year...how are we already here?

The first half of this school year has been marked by many achievements, hard work, and a strong commitment to excellence. As a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, we have continued to raise the bar for our students, modeling what it means to have high expectations and a commitment to learning. This distinction is not only an acknowledgment of our past successes but also a call to sustain our efforts in every aspect of our school community.

In the coming months, we will place a strong emphasis on three key priorities:

  1. Positive Student Attendance: Regular attendance is a cornerstone of academic success. We will continue to encourage and support our students to be present and engaged every day.

  2. Strong Academic Growth: Our dedicated staff will maintain their focus on rigorous and engaging instruction, ensuring that each student is challenged to reach their full potential.

  3. Community Building: Our school’s heart lies in its supportive community. This spring, we look forward to coming together for our annual events that celebrate our shared values, traditions, and successes. This includes Kindness Week, Literacy Night, and our Lunch with Loved One's event.

Let’s continue to work together to ensure that the second half of this school year is as impactful and inspiring as the first. Thank you for your unwavering support and partnership in making Kaseberg a place where excellence thrives and every student is valued.

Here’s to a fantastic start to 2025 and a successful second half of the school year!

Important Information~

Monthly Attendance Raffle~

Regular school attendance is crucial for academic success.  Missing even a few days can disrupt a child's learning, making it harder to keep up with lessons and build a strong academic foundation.  Every day matters and we LOVE to see your children each and every day!

PBIS Monthly Character Trait Award/Focus~

In January, we will emphasize the character trait of empathy. Students will explore what empathy means and learn ways to demonstrate it at school and in their community.  We encourage you to talk with your child about this character trait and practice using it at home.

Here are some ways to practice empathy at home and in your community:

At Home:

  1. Active Listening: Take time to listen to each other without interrupting. Encourage family members to express their thoughts and feelings.
  2. Practice Perspective-Taking: Discuss how others might feel in different situations and talk about ways to respond with kindness.
  3. Show Appreciation: Regularly express gratitude for each other's efforts and contributions.
  4. Encourage Helping: Involve everyone in small acts of kindness, like helping with chores or supporting a family member in need.
  5. Read Together: Share stories that explore emotions and challenges, then discuss how the characters might be feeling.

In Your Community:

  1. Volunteer Together: Participate in activities like food drives, neighborhood clean-ups, or helping at a local shelter.
  2. Offer Support: Check in on neighbors, especially those who might need assistance, like elderly residents.
  3. Be Inclusive: Make an effort to include others in group activities or events, ensuring no one feels left out.
  4. Show Kindness: Perform random acts of kindness, such as holding the door open, helping someone carry groceries, or leaving a kind note.
  5. Practice Patience: Show understanding and patience in everyday interactions, such as waiting in lines or engaging with community workers.

These small but meaningful actions can help build empathy and strengthen connections with those around you.
