PBIS Focus for November and December~

This month at Kaseberg, our students are learning about the importance of Respect — what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like in our school community. Teachers will be guiding students through lessons and activities that help them understand how to show respect for themselves, others, and their environment.

Students can also earn Caught Cha! tickets throughout the month for demonstrating respectful behavior around campus — whether it’s using kind words, listening to others, or taking care of school property.

How can families help at home?
Here are a few ways you can support the lesson of Respect in everyday life:

  • Model respect: Speak kindly to others, listen attentively, and show appreciation.

  • Practice manners: Encourage saying “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me.”

  • Take responsibility: Have your child help with chores or caring for family pets.

  • Listen and value opinions: Give your child chances to share their thoughts and show that you value what they say.

  • Show respect for differences: Talk about how people may have different ideas, cultures, or traditions — and that’s what makes our community special.

Together, we can help our students grow into kind, thoughtful, and respectful individuals — both at school and at home!

Conference Week and Report Cards for Trimester 1~

We have officially wrapped up the first trimester of the school year! Our teachers are looking forward to connecting with families during Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will take place the week of November 17th–21st.

These conferences are required for all students, as they provide an important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate strengths, and set goals for continued growth. During your scheduled meeting, you’ll also receive a copy of your child’s report card for the first trimester.

πŸ“… Conference Week Schedule
All students will be released early each day during conference week. Please review the early release schedule below and make any necessary arrangements for pickup and after-school care.

PBIS Character Trait of the Month "Growth Mindset"~

This month, our schoolwide focus is on the character trait of Growth Mindset. Teachers will be helping students learn what this looks and sounds like in the classroom. At Kaseberg, we believe in Raising the Bar—showing students that with grit, determination, and perseverance, they are capable of amazing growth.

Here are some ways you can support your child in building a Growth Mindset at home:

  • Encourage effort over perfection: Celebrate hard work and persistence, not just the final result.
  • Use “yet” language: If your child says, “I can’t do this,” help them reframe it as, “I can’t do this yet.”
  • Model perseverance: Share examples of times when you had to keep trying to succeed.
  • Praise problem-solving: Highlight your child’s strategies and creative thinking.
  • Emphasize learning from mistakes: Remind your child that mistakes are opportunities to grow.

    PBIS Monthly Focus~

This month our students will be focusing on the character trait of "Responsibility". Students will discuss and learn what it looks like to be responsible at school, at home, and in their community.  Students will receive Caught Cha tickets anytime an adult on campus sees them showing this trait happening in action.  Here are ways you can support your child at home with being responsible:

    Helping Your Child Be Responsible

Responsibility is a skill kids build little by little. Here are some simple ways you can support your child at home and in the community:

    • At home:

      • Give age-appropriate chores (make the bed, feed a pet, set the table).

      • Encourage finishing homework or tasks before playtime.

      • Help them take care of their own belongings.

    • In the community:

      • Return library books on time.

      • Clean up after yourself at parks or public spaces.

      • Model responsibility by following through on commitments.

Small, consistent steps make a big difference in helping children grow into dependable and respectful community members!

    Independent Study~

We want to take a moment to highlight the importance of regular school attendance. Every day counts—when students are present, they are able to fully engage in learning, build strong connections with their teachers and peers, and stay on track academically. Even a few missed days can add up quickly and make it harder for students to catch up.

If you know your child will be absent for three or more days, we encourage you to take advantage of our Independent Study program. This option allows students to continue their learning while away from school and ensures they don’t fall behind. LINK to Independent Study.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us prioritize student learning and success through strong attendance!

     Message from Principal Duncan~

    Dear Kaseberg Elementary Families,

I hope you are enjoying a joyful and restful summer! As we gear up for the 2025–2026 school year, I’m thrilled to welcome back our returning students and extend a heartfelt welcome to our new families joining the Kaseberg community. The start of a new year always brings excitement, fresh opportunities, and the promise of continued growth—and I can't wait to get started alongside your amazing children.

Last year, our school made incredible strides—outperforming 99% of schools across California and standing out as one of 33 schools in CA to receive the highest achievement in education and being named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School.  In addition, Kaseberg Elementary was also recognized as a 2025 CA Distinguished School. These results are a powerful testament to the passion, resilience, and dedication of our students, staff, and families. This year, we’re ready to continue that upward momentum and keep raising the bar for what’s possible.

As always, our mission remains clear: to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every student is known, supported, and challenged. We are dedicated to meeting each child where they are and helping them grow into confident learners and compassionate individuals.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership—it is truly the heartbeat of our success. Here’s to an incredible year ahead filled with learning, connection, and new milestones. Let’s make 2025–2026 our best year yet!

    Warm Regards,
